50 Cent has once again thrust his longstanding rival Ja Rule into the spotlight, this time for a theatrical performance in which Ja Rule took on the persona of Jesus Christ.
In the wee hours of Thursday (September 7), the G-Unit heavyweight posted a video on Instagram featuring the Murder Inc. artist tethered to a wooden column, evoking imagery of the Flagellation of Christ. Ja Rule was performing his biblical hit from 2000, “One of Us.”
This performance was captured at the 2023 BMI R&B/Hip Hop Awards held in Miami on Wednesday night (September 6). The scene was set with Rule surrounded by singers draped in white church robes, against a backdrop projecting a serene sunset.
In his caption, 50 Cent couldn’t resist taunting, “Look at this shit head, is he supposed to be Jesus [grinning face emoji].” He went on, “WTF you can’t make this shit up. LOL so stupid!”
The sentiment seemed to resonate, with 50’s cohorts Tony Yayo and Uncle Murda joining in the laughter through a series of emojis in the comments. As of now, Ja Rule has yet to respond to this latest jab.
The feud between 50 Cent and Ja Rule traces its roots back to 1999, allegedly stemming from an incident where Ja Rule was robbed by one of 50’s associates. By the early 2000s, their rivalry escalated with a barrage of diss tracks such as “Wanksta” and “Loose Change”—and even physical altercations.
