G.O.A.T. (“Greatest of All Time”) is an accolade often bestowed upon individuals who have attained extraordinary heights in their respective fields, be it in sports, music, or public influence. However, when it comes to Ice Cube, he harbors reservations about being labeled as such.
Taking to X, formerly known as Twitter, on a Saturday (Sept. 30), Ice Cube addressed fans who seek to honor him with the G.O.A.T. title.
“For those who think it flatters me, please don’t call me a f**king goat. Carry on,” he asserted in a tweet. The West Coast rap luminary further clarified his sentiment, stating, “Don’t get me wrong. I appreciate the respect but don’t call me that.”
Just last month, Ice Cube engaged with a user on X who posited a question regarding N.W.A.’s potential influence on the shift away from conscious hip-hop. “Was NWA part of the agenda to destroy conscious rap which was growing in popularity at the time, and promote sex violence and gangster behavior amongst the youth?” inquired one individual on the social-media platform.
