Marion “Suge” Knight, the co-founder of Death Row Records, who is currently serving time for the 2015 killing of Terry Carter, is reportedly planning to turn his tumultuous life story into a TV series that promises to delve even deeper into his notorious past than what the public already knows. Sources with direct knowledge revealed to TMZ Hip Hop that Suge and his brother, Brian Brown, are teaming up to bring this project to fruition, with filming set to commence this summer.
The series is said to have a similar vibe to 50 Cent‘s hit show “BMF,” with ample plot time reserved to narrate Suge’s pre-music industry days as a youngster from Compton with dreams of becoming a football coach. Given that he’s behind bars, Suge has plenty of time to supervise the project, and insiders suggest that he’s heavily involved in the selection of the director and cast, particularly for the role of Tupac Shakur. The series will almost certainly include characters such as Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Kurupt, Daz and many more!
According to our sources, Suge is prioritizing acting abilities over physical resemblance for the actor who’ll portray ‘Pac, emphasizing the need to capture the late rapper’s mannerisms and style. It’s worth noting that a lot has changed since Suge‘s incarceration, with the likes of Snoop Dogg acquiring the rights to Death Row’s music catalog and distributing it as part of a $1 billion initiative with Larry Jackson. Meanwhile, Dr. Dre marked the 30th anniversary of his “Chronic” album release with a star-studded party.
As of today, no production studio or streaming service has confirmed any reports of any deal made for a TV series, however we here at RapVerse believe it will not be long before a deal is made! We reached out to Suge’s team for further details on the upcoming series, and we’ll keep you posted on any updates we receive. It’s safe to say that fans of the rap mogul and those intrigued by his story will be eagerly awaiting this project’s release. Written by DJ Skandalous, all rights reserved.
