Scarface, the iconic rapper from Geto Boys, recently took a trip down memory lane, sharing a hilarious anecdote about the late 2Pac playing a prank on him after he indulged in some potent “L.A. chronic” for the first time.
During one of his performances on the Behind The Desk Experience Tour, Scarface fondly remembered his encounter with 2Pac in Los Angeles, where he was recording his Untouchable album.
Reflecting on the experience, Scarface recalled, “First time I got to California, I’m in L.A., smoking LA weed. We ain’t ever had no shit like this before.” He described the scene vividly, sharing how he was chilling in his Burbank apartment, thoroughly enjoying his first taste of L.A. chronic.
But then, 2Pac orchestrated a prank that left Scarface in stitches. He recounted how 2Pac arrived in a black Hummer equipped with a siren and loudspeaker, pretending to be law enforcement. Scarface humorously narrated, “I’m on the couch like this and my motherfucking high says [does a walking away action]. He just blew my fucking high, man, and he wanted to go to the studio and record, right?”
Despite the interruption to his buzz, Scarface acknowledged the bond he shared with 2Pac, highlighting their collaboration on the track “Smile,” which became a monumental hit for both artists.
Interestingly, Scarface’s connection with 2Pac extends beyond their musical collaborations. Suge Knight, the former CEO of Death Row Records, recently commended Scarface for his unwavering loyalty to 2Pac, Treach, and himself. Knight emphasized the importance of their camaraderie as a model for others in the industry.
This anecdote sheds light on the lighter side of Scarface’s experiences in the hip-hop world, showcasing the camaraderie and humor shared among legends of the genre. As fans continue to celebrate the legacies of Scarface and 2Pac, stories like these serve as reminders of the profound impact they had, not only on music but also on the culture at large.
